Walking into Fall

Has it ever happened to you that you see an item of clothing and you immediately see a vision of how you’re going to wear it? That’s exactly what happened to me when I saw this dress. I knew that it would be the perfect summer to fall transition and for some reason, I just had to wear it with my “riding” boots. There’s two funny things about this. The first one is that I haven’t worn these boots in a little over two years! Which is a total waste because I had forgotten how cute they were! Now the second funny thing about this whole combination is the green with the brown. I remember when I was little, I had a brown jacket that had little flowers in the color of..yeah, you guessed it, lime green! And I absolutely hate it! Ironically, 16 years later, I am drawn by that color combination! So, one thing I would suggest for all of you to do, is first get an item from your closet that you haven't worn in a really really really long time and pair it was "silly" color combination because you might be surprised with the result!

Overall...

Overall...I really love overalls!! The last time I ever owned a pair of overalls was probably when I was 5-6 years old and I regret not owning them a lot sooner! You know what I love most about them? You got it, how versatile they are! For this post, I decided to do a casual sporty look and then a more "fancy" but still with that casual feel to it. But honestly, the possibilities are endless! You can pair it with a pretty blouse and some wedges or even transition to fall with a chunky sweater and some booties.

21 things I've learned in 21 years

Well, I'm 21!!! This past weekend I celebrated my birthday with my family and boyfriend and even though it wasn't exactly how I had planned on celebrating, it was truly especial. I decided to reflect on everything I've learned in life thus far and round up 21 things I have learned in 21 years! So without further ado, let's get started.

1) Appreciate the small things-If this year has taught us anything is to not take things for granted and appreciate even the small moments in life.

2) Follow your dreams - As cheesy as this sounds, it is true! You never know where that dream can take you and it doesn't hurt to try. With that in mind....

3) Take Risks - Life's too short to not go for it!

4) Acceptance - This one is a hard one and it takes time to fully learn how to accept. Accept yourself, accept situations, accept that you can't control every single thing in life.

5) Failure is okay - I feel like "failure" has such a negative connotation when in reality it shouldn't have. Failure just lets you know that one "way" is not working out so you got to try another way. That's it!

6) Show your feelings - I recently got a ban.do planner and one of the stickers included says "it's okay to cry." Don't be scared to show how you feel. Once you let it out, you will feel a thousand times better.

7) Be nice to yourself- Don't be hard on yourself! If you're not nice then who will be?

8) Have Patience - Thing's don't always work out and that is okay! God has a plan and you just have to be patient and have trust in your life.

9) Follow your gut - No one knows yourself better than you do, so follow that first instinct you get.

10) Listen - You will get more out of listening than by talking

11) Expensive shoes are totally worth it- or a top? or a dress? Just go for it!

12) Live in the moment- Sometimes we get too caught up with social media and what other people think

13) Take care of yourself- drink enough water, and exercise. It will make you feel a lot better

14) Value your health

15) Ask for help - I assure you there will always be someone who would love to help you

16) Be spontaneous - I am a planner and I always need to have plan a, plan b, plan c and so on for every scenario. But it is nice to just let life happen once in a while

17) Independence - I know I'm only 21 and I'm still learning in how to adult but independence is such a big factor in all of this.

18) Know your balance - don't overwork yourself!

19) Don't take it personal - This is still something that I am working on because I am a very emotional person but I have to learn to just shake things off.

20) You won't please everyone - As long as you are happy with yourself, you are doing a great job!

21) Never apologize for being you!

Casual Monday

Even though I am always wearing a dress here 99% of the time, I love wearing jeans. But not the typical skinny jeans that may look cute but they are so uncomfortable to wear. I love a good fit of jeans (maybe even high waisted) that look so flattering but have the same level of comfort as a dress! So today, I am introducing to you jeans from Loft which if you don't already own a pair, run to their website and find a good pair of jeans (on their sale tab of course ;) ).  And who doesn't like a little bit of decoration on their jeans, like this paint splatter detail?!

Back to School!

Where did summer break go! Even though this summer was far from normal, I can't believe how fast it went by and that school starts today! I am beginning my senior year from college and all the emotions are going through my head. To top it all off, everything will be online and I know this transition will be hard since we are so used to have traditional classes. So, I have rounded 5 tips that have helped me in this transition and I hope they help you as well!

1) Get a Planner! I know everyone says this but it is truly so important to have a space dedicated to writing down all of your tasks. School is already overwhelming as it is and you probably have 100 and one things running through your mind, so why not take a little bit of these things and just write them down to make sure you do not forget! I am usually drawn to really cute planners and I feel like when I do have a cute planners, it helps me keep motivated in writing things down!

2) Develop a Routine! Before, you knew you had to wake up at least an hour before your class, get ready go to class, then to another one and another one and then you had a break and so on. Now, you can literally wake up 10 minutes before class and just turn on your computer and you'll be set to go. However, this is not a good thing to follow since you might get a little "lazy." I would suggest to follow the same routine as you would pre-covid to make sure you are the most productive!

3) Organization! Last semester, when my school went fully online, I found myself working from my bed and that was not good. There were papers all over the place and I knew I would loose something important one day. Make sure you have a space that is just for your school work, either a desk or a table or even a room in your house.

4) Reward yourself! If you manage to study or finish an assignment without distractions, reward yourself either by grabbing a snack or taking a break! You deserve it! I usually find it helpful setting up timers when I start an assignment so I know not to get distracted and finish in time.

5) Be kind to yourself! These times are very stressful so don't feel bad if you are not on top of everything! You are doing the best that you can and that's all that matters. Remember that you and your health comes first and nothing is more important than you!

Romper Season pt.2

Based on my last post from a couple of weeks ago, I love rompers!! They're such a staple piece in your closet and I love the fact that you don't have to worry about choosing a top for your pants or vice versa! They're easy, fun and so versatile! This navy green romper is one of my favorites because it is such a great summer to fall transition piece! I might even try wearing it with maybe riding boots? I'll keep you all posted! I've also rounded up my favorite rompers from different stores. Enjoy!

On the Bright Side...

Happy Wednesday! I know I haven't had an honest talk here for a while and I just felt like it was time to! Lately, I've been in a weird funk because everything is just so uncertain and this year has not be a "typical" year to say the least. Summer is almost over and looking back, I didn't have any memorable moments or created new memories or anything in that sort and to be honest, it is sad. But there's always a bright side to everything, and sometimes you just need to look really hard to find it! So today I will be sharing some "on the bright side" statements that serve as a reminder to always be thankful even for the small things. So to get started, on the bright side, we are healthy! Health is something that we take for granted but specifically this year, I think we have all learned to appreciate our health. On the bright side, I have this creative outlet where I can share and express all of my feelings and connect with amazing people every day. On the bright side, I am with my loving family during these hard times. On the bright side, it could be worse. We can't let all of those negative thoughts fill our life because it will overpower it and then it will be hard to get out of that "funk." So today, Wednesday, middle of the week, I encourage you all to write down your own "on the bright side" statements and I guarantee you it will make you feel 10000000% better.
